Growing up in this fast-paced era of the Internet and technology has particular challenges, especially for girls. Women have come so far, yet where are they? Is there any time to look back? Have we thrown out the baby with the bathwater? In the novel, the heroine Jean unwittingly stumbles into the alluring web of tradition while trying to hang on to the last threads of childhood and cope with her feelings after the unexpected death of her beloved grandmother. With guidance from mythological and imaginary female characters, with support from her parents, her teacher, her aunt and uncle, and from books and the Internet Jean gradually pieces together her understanding of what is means to be female. She learns skills in the fiber arts, gains confidence and discovers key stories from the past told from a new point of view. Alone in her room, she encounters Dust Bunnies representing the Three Fates, a few special goddesses in animal form, plus folk, fairytale and biblical heroines, including Grandmother Spider, Isis, Brigit, Athena, Rachel and Psyche. She liberates Arachne, the mortal condemned by Athena to the life of a spider, hidden and feared. Jean learns about caring, questioning, expressing her deepest concerns, listening to others and appreciating the wonders and mysteries of nature and of language. She finds inne 1. Language: English. What do you do when your marriage is so unhappy that you begin to fantasize about your husband’s funeral? That’s how bad it got for Alisa Bowman.... So she launched a last-ditch effort to save her marriage. Project: Happily Ever After is her fearlessly honest and humorous account of how she went from being a ´´divorce daydreamer´´ to renewing her wedding vows - and all of the steps in between. From bikini waxes to erotica, romance instruction manuals to second honeymoons, the silent treatment to power struggles, she goes where many marriage-improvement gurus have feared to tread. Equal parts funny, poignant, and most importantly, useful, Bowman’s story will give other miserably-married folks courage and hope. And in addition to telling her own story, she packs straightforward prescriptive guidance, including a ´´10-Step Marital Improvement Guide´´. Listeners will laugh. They’ll cry. Blue beard (French: La Barbe bleue) is a very famous classic fairy tale written by Charles Perrault. Bluebeard is a wealthy aristocrat, feared and shunned because of his ugly, blue beard. He has been married several times, but no one knows what became of his wives. He is therefore avoided by the local girls. When Bluebeard visits one of his neighbours and asks to marry one of his two daughters, the girls are terrified, and each tries to pass him on to the other. Eventually he talks the younger daughter into visiting him, and after hosting a wonderful banquet, he persuades her to marry him. After the ceremony, she goes to live with him in his castle. Very shortly after, Bluebeard announces that he must leave the country for a while; he gives all the keys of the château to his new wife, telling her they open the doors to rooms which contain his treasures. He tells her to use the keys freely and enjoy herself whilst he is away. However, he also gives her the key to one small room beneath the castle, stressing to her that she must not enter this room under any circumstances. She vows she will never enter the room. He then goes away and leaves the house in her hands. Immediately, she is overcome with the desire to see what the forbidden room holds; and, despite warnings from her visiting sister, Anne, the girl abandons her guests during a house party and takes the key to the room... 1. Worst New Year’s resolution...ever. Of course, Cinderella Charming, C. C. to the world, had heard of ´´marriages of convenience´´. After all, her parents had named her and her siblings after fairy-tale characters, even though she resembled one of Cinderella’s cute mice friends rather than a princess. She was also an avid romance reader. But when her boss, the insanely handsome star quarterback and playboy, Michael Campbell, proposed the fake marriage plan, her rational self screamed its objections. True, she’d be given a generous bonus when the marriage was annulled so she could open her own restaurant. True, the fake marriage would help improve Michael’s image. True, she was in Scotland, one of her favorite places of all time. But C. C.’s main objection, and this was a big one, was that she feared she’d already fallen in love with Michael, and they would be spending New Year’s Eve together...alone. 1. Language: English. I know exactly why it turns you on...because you´re messed up too.Asha´s life is no fairytale, by any stretch of the imagination. There was no kind, generous father to care for and protect her from the Vegas that exists beyond the glitz and glamour of The Strip. No wise, doting mother to look over and guide her, passing down essential lessons and leading her to the right path. And certainly, no Prince Charming just around the corner, ready to rescue her from working late nights to cover steadily mounting bills. You´re not born to sharks without becoming one yourself. In Vegas, King is exactly what his name implies. Born into money and influence, but respected - and feared - in his own right. The privileges of wealth have afforded him many things, freedom, power, massive eligibility - while simultaneously leaving him exposed to others: betrayal, exploitation, and manipulation.Like attracts like...Her poker face has kept her alive all this time, and he keeps his cards close to his chest. Neither is interested in gambling their hearts, but when they can´t stay away from each other, there´s only one choice...ante up.Contains mature themes. 1. Language: English.
